In Thai, “Siamese” has a meaning of
moon diamonds. No wonder, the cat truly has the white glowing soothing fur like
the moon and diamond beams. Siamese cat has been known as the
well-distinguished oriental cat. In the 20th century, the cat’s
popularity rose and became a popular cat breed throughout Europe and North
America.
Some experts say that there are
differences between the traditional and the modern Siamese cat. The differences
were created by breeding the selected generation, based on the market demands.
They lay on the eyes, head shape, ears, and the body. The traditional Siamese
cat has a pair of clear blue almond-shaped eyes. This part is pretty stunning.
The head has triangular shape. It has larger pointy ears. The tail is
elongated, and the body is more slender and muscular. The characteristics
literally build a graceful and strong impression.
However, the impression isn’t orchestrated with their temperament. This beautiful and graceful Siamese cat is described social, intelligent, and playful. Even in their adulthood, they are described as ‘fond of playing game of fetch’. The combination of great look and the temperament is what people outside the world wants. Siamese cat somehow breaks the belief that cat is a lazy animal.
How about the life span? A Swedish
Insurance Data shows that a Siamese cat can live up to 12.5 years. It means
that they have a high mortality compared to the other breeds. In average, a Siamese cat can live for 10 to 12.5 years. The majority died because of
neoplasm. They also have higher risk for neoplastic and gastrointestinal
problem. But they have lower risk of feline lower urinary tract disease.
The development of siamese cat
breeding has contributes to the diversity of cats and kittens species. Balinese
cat, Burmese cat, Havana Brown, Himalayan, Javanese, Ocicat, Snowshoe, and
Savanah are some of the derivations.
